Hotel Policies

ADA Policy
The hotel is compliant with ADA. ADA compliant guest rooms are available.

Alcohol Policy
In New York City alcohol is for adults-only—so we only serve and sell to guests 21 and over. (Remember your ID!)

Age Requirement Policy
Kids are always welcome—as long as there are adults around too! At least one occupant of each Aloft room must be 21 years or older. Be sure to bring ID in case we need to confirm.

Check Cashing Policy
We’re happy to cash personal checks up to $100 for Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) Gold and Platinum members. Identification may be required, and other conditions may apply.

Connecting Room Policy
Traveling together with family or friends? Aloft Harlem will try and accommodate you in rooms on the same floor or near each other. Sorry, connecting rooms are not available.

Deposit Policy
We accept all major credit cards, but if plastic’s not your thing, we’re happy to accept cash too. With cash payment, you’ll need to pay the complete room fee (including taxes) in advance, plus a $100 (U.S.) per day security deposit. Of course, if you’ll get the extra back at check-out when we settle your bill, after a quick room inspection to make sure everything’s in order.

Early Departure Policy
If you have a sudden change of schedule and need to cut out early, stop by the front desk. We’ll do our best to settle your bill—but we may have to charge you a fee of $75.

Early Arrival Policy
Check in at 3pm or later and your Aloft room will be ready and waiting. Eager to get in earlier? Just ask at the front desk, and we'll do our best to find you a room that's ready. No guarantees—it depends on the last guests and our housekeeping schedule—but if we can't squeeze you in early, we'll be happy to hang on to your luggage in the meantime.

Extra Bedding Policy
We don't have any extra rollaway beds, but many of our Aloft rooms offer two queen-size beds, so be sure to ask if that's what you need. And we're always eager to accommodate your little ones, with baby cribs and child-size air mattresses (thanks to our camp Aloft program) available at no extra charge.

Fire Safety Policy
In case of a fire emergency, the hotel has a Fire Safety Plan in place. We kindly ask you to check the back of your guest room door for the nearest floor exit to guide you to safety. We also have a Fire Safety Director 24/7 to handle all fire related emergencies.

Gift Certificate Policy
Got an Aloft or Starwood gift certificate? We'll happily apply them to your hotel bill. Make sure to call us in advance to confirm.

Late Checkout Policy
Feel free to sleep in — check-out time isn’t until 12 noon. Looking to stick around a bit longer? Let us know and we’ll do our best to keep the room available for you until 2 PM, at no charge. If we need you to clear the room, we can always stash your suitcase somewhere else until you’re ready to go. For late checkouts from 2 - 4 PM, a half day's charge will apply; after 4 PM, a full night's room rate and tax will be charged.

Package Handling Policy
We're happy to accept and hold packages sent to you, free of charge—just be sure whoever's sending them knows to clearly mark packages with both send and recipient info.

Pet Policy
Animals are family, too! That’s why Aloft Harlem welcomes dog/cats up to 40 pounds.* Our pet-friendly arf(SM) program offers a special bed, bowl, and a doggie bag of woof-alicious treats and toys, all complimentary to use during your stay. Please make sure they’re on their best behavior—we don’t want to charge you extra for housekeeping!

* If your dog/cat weighs more than 40 pounds, please contact the hotel directly to discuss a waiver.

Credit/Debit Card Policy
Debit and Credit cards will be authorized at check-in for the amount of your stay, plus an amount to cover incidentals. The authorization will hold the funds until check out, at which time the amount actually incurred during the stay will be charged. Authorized amounts may take up to 30 days after departure to be released by your bank or financial institution and the hotel will not be responsible for any resulting fees or charges.

Debit Card Policy
When using a debit card, a hold will be placed on the card for room and tax charges plus an additional 30% for incidental charges. The hotel is not responsible for overdraft charges incurred due to the hold. For questions regarding payment methods, please contact the hotel directly.

Smoking Policy
Breathe easy! We're a 100% smoke-free environment. So please follow our no-smoking rules—there's a $500 (USD) fine per night for anyone lighting up inside the hotel.

Tax Exempt Policy
We happily accept New York Federal and State ST 119-1 tax exemption certificates. You must present your tax exempt certificate and photo ID at check-in to receive tax exempt status.
